So much to tell.....so little time.
To begin, on Friday night, all the Communication Majors were invited over to the Department Head's house for a party. Almost thirty people showed up, and the event was a smashing success. Conversations were lively, friendships were made, and the food was DELICIOUS!!!!
After driving back to the dorm, I watched the very end of "The Inside Man" with a few of the guys on my wing. Suddenly, one of the guys asked "What are they doing?" and pointed out the window to the parking lot three stories below us.
A group of figures was running through the light drizzle that had begun to fall and dumping baking flour on all the cars in the lot. After about five minutes of watching them, we decided we should probably do something.
So, we all ran down stairs and told the rest of the dorm, where one of the other guys informed us that when flour gets wet, it becomes like paste. If it dryed on our cars, it would take the paint off when we scraped the flour off.
So, a few of the more devoted to their cars (myself included) went out into the rain that was now pouring buckets and rinsed off our cars. Then, one of the girls suggested that anyone who wanted to run through the rain take a walk down the hill. For the next half-hour or so, we all kicked puddles at each other and walked up and down the hill. By the time we got back to the dorm, it was close to 1:00 AM. Very interesting night...
Anyway, I just walked in from making a mask for Fall Thing, a Sadie Hawkin's esque dance. Yes, suprise, suprise, I was asked to the dance by the neice of friends from where my family use to live. It's gonna be fun.
Well, I only got 4 hours of sleep last night, so I'm pooped.

The First Concert!
So tonight, the Master's Choral (no, it does not have anything to do with horses...it's a choir) gave their first performance. Since I am part of said choral, it would follow that I was involved in that performance.
If you followed that thought process, you would be correct.
To be honest, I was so nervous, my knees were shaking. We all entered the hall just as we planned, got up on the risers, and proceeded to sing our little hearts out!
During the first song, there happens to be a note that I didn't know I could hit until yesterday. Well, as we rose to the note, so did I, and I BELTED that note out....and then swayed back and forth from a combination of weak knees and lack of breath. Not a pleasant feeling, let me tell you. But I didn't faint (good thing too.....I would have taken out the three rows of singers below me or fallen off the back of the risers :)
Anyway, it was a great time, and no matter how intimidating it was, it was still fun. We were all together, singing our hearts out to God.
It's times like that when I wonder if that's a preview of Heaven......
Goodnight all!

Power Out!
So, today in chapel, to open, we had one of the most amazing violinists I have ever heard play for us. She got up and talked quietly for a few moments in her soft asian accent, then proceeded to wow the entire gymnasium with a symphony (Bach), a christian contemporary (His eye is on the sparrow), and the grand finale of Jericho ("Joshua fought the battle of jericho...").
As we are all sitting amazed during her final song, the lights suddenly flicker. We all glance up as they give another flick, then shut down completely.
AND SHE PLAYED ON!!!
One of the most amazing instances of concentration I have ever watched. In the middle of a pitch black gym, she continues to play one of the hardest violin pieces I have ever heard! And not even a pause!
Amazing...
Needless to say, she recieved a standing ovation.
On a side note, I reached my dorm at the top of the hill after chapel to discover that one of my friends had been in the elevator when the power shut down. As a result, he had missed the entire service...bummer...
Power outs are interesting things. They happen at the most random times, and you never know where you may be when one hits...
!Hasta la vista!

Philosophy and the Opera
So, I'm still getting use to the whole consept of blogging everyday...so I still forget.
Anyway, let's talk about yesterday in Philosophy class. The professor, the class, and myself all found out that one of the guys in the class is a libertarian. And the poor guy is all alone in the class with his beliefs. He began speaking quite passionately about the evils of government and how the world would be better off with a government that barely did anything and let the people do the rest.
At one point in his argument, he made the point that nearly anyone, upon seeing a child on the edge of a well, would jump to save that child. They would rush in front of a moving car to save an old woman standing in harm's way, even at their own peril. But, as another student pointed out, if there are no morals or government, why should she risk her own life to save another? What is the good in that? And what about the sick people who would actually push the child into the well? Her point was this: yes the form of libertarian government would work perfectly in an ideal situation, but sadly, that ideal situation does not exist!
Humans are depraved...
......end of story.
On a completely different note, I decided after long while to do Opera scenes today. Not actually do them today...but sign up for the class...if you...do you get what I'm...NEVER MIND!
Ok, so that's my life up to this point. VERY interesting I'm sure.................
I gotta go...

Dorm night...and feet...
It's 11:18 PM...*sigh*
Why I'm writing at the computer, I don't know.
Anyway, just got back from dorm night at minature golf. Very entertaining. Helped me discover that, although it may be fun for some, I just do NOT have the patience necessary for the game of golf. Heck, if I can't do well in minatureland, what would I be like on the driving range. *shudder*
Interesting...something interesting......
Oh, yes...the game of DDR Nova. I watched some guy play it in the arcades and Oh my word! *gasp* He was SO good! I never have, and never will see again, feet move that fast unless related to a mad dash for the bathroom.
So, my concience has gotten the better of me, screaming at me to shut up and go to bed. So, I listen......everyone knows you always listen to your concience for pete sakes!
Goodnight!

Moderation be darned...
So this morning, Saturday, I woke up to find that breakfast wasn't until 10:30 AM. I had conveniently woken up at about 8:30. I laboriously sat up, turned off my alarm, and clunked out until 9:30. Then, I went to breakfast, only to discover that "breakfast" was actually "brunch" and it would be my only meal until 4:30...darn. So I splurged......a gigantic waffle filled with chocolate chips, gallons of orange juice, and a small bowl of a colorful cereal that reminded me of skittles.
I am now sitting in the library, typing on a keyboard that echoes throughout the entire building, causing untold embarrassment to me and resentment from the other patrons of said library. So, to appease them, I end.
Good day from college,
Phelps
